Here are some pics for reference. The fence is probably 500ft away. The one is with the brights on and the other is with the LEDs.

I researched many lights. Led has come a long way no doubt. Thanks for the Pics as well as the input. It is appreciated.

One note here also. If I could have found a comparable alternator that had smaller dimensions. I would have used it. Of course the the ac voltage will be run through a regulator rectifier and converted to dc.
Also, no more than I will be using the lights I could have used just a battery but I just wanted to try something different.

I like your design. Another thought that I had but haven't tinkered enough yet to get around to it was to mount the alternator to the swing arm but in line with the chain. I was thinking of using a toothed sprocket for the alternator pulley and a spring to apply tension. Basically using the chain as the belt.

I have a friend with a crf 450 hybrid. He had the stator re-wrapped and it can now support 250 watt's. I think he used Ricky Stator.

On my R I run a Ricky Stator high output and I prefer it over the CR ignition. (Mainly because I ride a lot at night.) The performance gain just wasn't a fair trade-off.

Originally I was going to run it off of the chain. Once I started studying out the mechanics and seeing that i would have to apply tension to allow for the pivot arch of the swing arm, I decided to go this route because I was concerned that the chain method would be high maintenance. At my age, I don't need anything "HIGH MAINTENANCE".

This is cool. Are you worried about the tension from the belt "adjusting" the axle nut while it's turning?

The OEM lock nut is locked against the pulley and the pulley is recessed over the primary nut housing. The pulley acts as a spacer so there is no loss of locking force of to the lock nut. I do have a concern about the pulley being aluminium but it is aircraft grade. If i need to I will make the primary nut a squeeze type lock. Just experimenting now. Being left hand threaded may help keep it tight.
    I appreciate your input.

Little update here on this project.
Since i now have the bike up and running that this is on, I tried it out. It will work and indeed put out the voltage i need (13V). Yea!!! but... I have to hit 76 miles per hr before the flux capacitor will kick in. HAHAHA (Just a joke there). in reality about 40 mph.
I need to make a bigger pulley for the drive side about 8 inches. I have sourced the billet aluminum I need and my machinist will put it on the "lathe a runi " and fix me up. Hopefully i will have it completed by the OCT ride at ST JOE.
I will update when I make more progress or if i get a letter saying I am being sued by DeLorean or DOC Brown.

Little update. Made a larger Dia pulley and installed the matching Kubota regulator/rectifier and I get 13.5 volts at about 25 mph. I will put a sealed battery and make a wiring harness and I should be good to go. Just trying to do something unusual. Like was suggested, I may give the LED a try. I can buy H4 socket Led bulbs to put in my existing light choice.

The light bar came with an old set of Dick Cepeck lights. I may powder coat the cans and use them. They also take the H4.
I made the light bar so it could be installed/removed in a few min. I will be able to put the white Maire head light on easy.

Battery and voltage reg operational. Lights work. Maintains 12.5 volt charge to battery. I will put the electrical through some testing this spring. Once it is proven dependable I will make a proper wiring harness.

You have created something very impressive mrtwidster1. You have a creative mind. I'm looking forward to a tried and tested review B/c I may have interest in being a customer if you decide to sell a package to make this work.

I will update after i have used it awhile. If it proves dependable then I will do a full spec write up. Thanks for the interest.

One spot one flood. I will put h4 led bulbs in eventually and try them.
